Your pay & pay progression

The NHS provides some of the most comprehensive and attractive employment packages available. On this page you can find out more about the NHS pay bands and how pay progression works.  You can find out what the current pay bands are (and previous years) by clicking the links below.

NHS Pay Scales

You will be paid on the 27th of each month unless the 27th is a weekend in which case you will be paid on the Friday before.

Your payslip and P60 are available on your myESR homepage on the top right of the page. You can also download the MySBS Pay app that is available either from the app store or the google play store. Physical printed payslips are no longer provided.

Pay progression

You can find instructions in our guidance document – Recording a Pay Progression Appraisal within ESR.

Pay Progression Bands 8a and above – Agenda for Change

As part of the 2024/25 pay agreement, November 2024 will see the introduction of the back pay for the intermediate pay point increases for staff employed on Band 8a and above.

Although the retrospective pay increases will be automatically applied, any future pay progression (from 1 November onwards) will require meetings to continue as normal. Further information on the ICBs pay progression process can be found here  Flowchart-pay-step-submission-process_0.pdf

NHS Employers have put together some frequently asked questions about the changes.  This can be found here  Bands 8a and above intermediate pay point FAQs | NHS Employers

If you have a query about your pay or pension please email agem.payroll@nhs.net who will be happy to help.
