A Lincolnshire healthcare worker has been named as one of the national winners of the prestigious Macmillan Professional Excellence Awards.
Chloe North, Living with Cancer Community Development Facilitator for Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), won the inaugural ‘Rising Star’ award, which celebrates early-career professionals who show exceptional promise and a strong commitment to transforming cancer care for the future.
Chloe, who is 33 and from Skegness, said success in her role is all about having the human touch. “You can achieve so much with a smile, compassion and active listening, and genuinely caring about how people are.”
Living with cancer can bring complex challenges that sit alongside treatment, from financial pressures to transport, digital exclusion to isolation. Chloe was praised for showing exceptional early leadership by building new ways to connect people with cancer to the right support, at the point they need it. One of her key achievements was instigating a pioneering partnership with Anglian Water, to ensure nobody goes without water during treatment due to financial worries. She also led initiatives to support digital access and travel to appointments.
Ellie Sadler, Living with Cancer Community and Quality Programme Manager, said:
“I am incredibly proud of Chloe and delighted to see her recognised with the Macmillan Rising Star Award. She consistently goes above and beyond to meet the needs of people living with cancer in Lincolnshire, and this award is a reflection of her compassion, commitment and impact. Her work within the Living with Cancer programme exemplifies our strategic, whole‑system and person centred approach and the difference this can make at a neighbourhood and individual level.”
