Use the NHS App to manage your healthcare

The NHS App is a safe and easy way to manage your healthcare and access NHS services when it suits you.

You can use it on your phone or tablet, or access the same services through your NHS account on the NHS website.

Once you are set up, you can manage much of your healthcare in one place, without always needing to call or visit your GP practice.

What you can do with the NHS App

Depending on the services available from your GP practice, hospital or local NHS service, you can use the NHS App to:

  • order repeat prescriptions and choose a pharmacy to collect them from
  • book, change or cancel GP appointments, where available
  • view and manage hospital appointments and referrals, where available
  • view your GP health record, including information about your medicines, allergies, vaccinations and, where available, test results
  • receive messages from your GP practice, hospital and other NHS services
  • contact your GP practice about a health problem or make an administrative request, where available
  • use NHS 111 online to get advice and find the right medical help
  • view your NHS number
  • register your organ donation decision
  • choose how the NHS uses your data
  • access trusted NHS information about health conditions and treatments
  • find NHS services near you.

Some features need you to prove who you are before you can use them. This helps keep your personal health information secure.

Don’t miss important NHS messages

Your GP practice, hospital or another NHS service may send important information to you through the NHS App.

This could include:

  • appointment updates and reminders
  • test results
  • information about your care
  • something you need to do.

Turn on notifications for the NHS App so you know when a new message arrives.

If you receive a notification, check your NHS App and read the message as soon as you can. This will help make sure you do not miss important information about your care.
