Celebrating Patient Participation Group (PPG) Awareness Week 2025!
As part of PPG Awareness Week, we’re proud to celebrate the progress and renewed energy of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at St John’s Medical Centre in Grantham.
Back in October 2024, our PPG had just two active members, a surprising figure given that we’re the second-largest practice in Grantham. But from that small start, with determination and teamwork, we’ve seen a real turnaround. We’re excited to share that the group has grown to six engaged members, and we’re continuing to build momentum.
Other achievements so far include:-
- Improved organisation and structure
- Voted a PPG chair person and a specific PPG contact at the surgery
- Set quarterly dates for the year and members meetings beforehand to discuss suggestions etc for agendas.
- Produced a recruitment poster for the surgery and leaflet as a handout. We are now working on a recruitment poster for social media
- Planning a PPG banner we can use to promote the surgery and PPG events
Meet and Greet morning
On 20th March 2025 we organised a meet and greet morning which was very successful – we greeted 15 patients when they attended the surgery. The PPG representatives had conversations with attendees and conducted a small survey which revealed most were happy with the services they received. We invited a member of the wellbeing team and a social prescriber. At our next meeting we are going to propose holding a meet and greet once a month to get different patients views and discover any other services they might require.
We have requested from the surgery and doctors if there are any specific items/issues they would like us to work on to support them. We’ve also requested a dedicated notice board so our updates don’t get lost and can be clearly seen by all patients.
We are also looking to join forces with other PPG’s in the area hopefully to arrange a “Wellbeing” day.
This PPG Awareness Week, we’re proud of how far we’ve come in just a few months. Our journey is a testament to what a small group of motivated individuals can achieve when working in partnership with their local practice. We’re excited about the future and welcome more patients to join us in shaping services.
