Patients collaborate with NHS to launch new campaign to help people to age well

What we set out to achieve
To help people live well for longer, the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System teamed up with health and wellbeing organisations across the county to promote healthy ageing and reduce the risk of frailty.
This partnership focused on encouraging older adults to stay active, keep doing what they love, and stay socially connected – all key factors in supporting independence and wellbeing.
We recognised that people needed better access to useful information and services, so a targeted communications campaign was launched to make it easier for people to access the right information and services at the right time.
What we did
We didn’t just design a campaign — we co-produced it with the people it was meant to support, including:
- Our ICB engagement team brought together a frailty co-production group.
- We reached out to the public and invited them to shape the campaign.
- 180 people aged 60+ expressed interest in getting involved, with 14 people joining the co-production group to create the campaign.

What you told us
You told us that when it comes to ageing well, the following are most important to you:
- Clear information on how to access activities that support healthy ageing
- Better signposting to local wellbeing hubs
- Encouragement to stay well and look after your health
- Support to keep doing the things you love as you get older
- Greater awareness of what carers, family, friends, and neighbours can do to help ageing
The difference it’s made
We’ve listed some examples below of how this collaborative partnership has made a difference:
- Together, we co-produced a marketing campaign designed to inspire and support people to ‘age well’
- We created a suite of accessible and engaging materials – including videos, social media posts, leaflets and a signposting booklet
- Our efforts were recognised at a county level, with the ICB Engagement team named as finalists for the ‘Co-producing Together Award’ in the Lincolnshire Care Awards for their work on this project.
What’s next?
We are working on embedding the campaign into local services and community spaces – making sure it’s visible and accessible and we will continue to expand our reach and promote the campaign to make sure it reaches those who need it most.
