Menopause Awareness Month

Menopause Awareness Month

October is Menopause Awareness Month, and 18 October is World Menopause Day, and NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is raising awareness of the signs and symptoms associated with the menopause.

The CONNECTPlus App

Collage of five screenshots from the CONNECTPlus mobile app by NHS Lincolnshire ICB. Screens show various women's health services including Breast Pain Assessment, Cervical Screening, Contraception, Menopause Treatment, and more. One screen highlights HRT information and a symptoms diary; another explains the Cervical Screening Programme with FAQs. A video screen introduces obstetrics and gynaecology. The CONNECTPlus logo—a teal circle with a white cross—is also visible.

We have recently invested in the development and roll out of an app designed specifically for women’s health needs. The app has information about a wide range of services available in Lincolnshire including:

  • contraception options
  • dealing with the menopause
  • cervical screening locally
  • advice around pre-conception care, breast pain or STI screening
  • domestic violence

You can download the CONNECTPlus app for free on any mobile device including tablets and smartphones. It is available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store, and provides you with a great selection of Women’s Health information right to your fingertips.

Upcoming Virtual Menopause Workshops

In addition, we are also running further Virtual NHS Menopause Workshops over the coming months following a recent successful series of the events.

The workshops are organised by the ICB and delivered by Dr Narmatha Kangeyan, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Wendy Martin, Associate Chief Nurse and Women’s Health Champion, NHS Lincolnshire ICB, said:

“It is important that we offer the chance for our Lincolnshire citizens and their families to hear first-hand some of the symptoms associated with the menopause and also to dispel some of the many myths that surround the menopause and perimenopause.

“Dr Kangeyan is our local lead on menopause and will outline what can be expected when entering the menopause. I would urge anyone interested to sign up, to these free events.”
