Almost 70,000 people in Lincolnshire have had their vaccination
With just two weeks left to go to get a COVID-19 vaccination, more than 630,000 people across the Midlands have had their vaccination, including almost 70,000 people in Lincolnshire.
The current COVID-19 vaccination campaign will finish on 17 June 2025, so the NHS in Lincolnshire is reminding those people, especially those at highest risk of becoming seriously ill if they catch the virus, to come forward for their free vaccination whilst they still have the opportunity.
“We are pleased that Lincolnshire people have continued to come forward for their vaccination over the last few weeks and we’d like to see more people do the same over the next two weeks, in order to top up their protection against COVID-19,” comments Steve Clapton, Head of Immunisation and Screening, NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
Despite the warmer weather, COVID-19 continues to pose a risk, particularly to older people and/or those who are immunosuppressed. Factor in that previous immunity can wane over time and it’s clear why the NHS has continued its efforts to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated, including running pop-up vaccination sessions in local communities.
Come forward for your free vaccination before 17th June
“In Lincolnshire we still have plenty of capacity to vaccinate anyone eligible who’s yet to come forward, however, this is obviously a time limited offer and after 17 June the COVID-19 vaccination will not be available until later this autumn. So, if you want to get vaccinated, make sure you get booked in as soon as possible and please don’t think that, just because we’ve had some warmer weather recently, COVID-19 is not a threat,” adds Steve.
Eligible groups
The COVID-19 vaccination is free and the groups eligible for the current campaign – listed below – are the same as the previous spring campaign, with the addition of immunocompromised people in younger age groups:
- Adults aged 75 years and over (if you are 74 but turn 75 years old by 17 June 2025, you don’t have to wait for your birthday to come forward)
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who have a weakened immune system
The COVID-19 vaccination will be available in Lincolnshire for a further two weeks until 17 June 2025. There is good availability of appointments across Lincolnshire and they can be booked online using the National Booking System www.nhs.uk/bookcovid or by calling 119 or by using the NHS app.
