NHS Lincolnshire ICB Chief Executive to Retire in June 2025

John Turner

NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) has announced that Chief Executive John Turner is to retire from the role in June 2025.

A Dedicated NHS Career

John has led the ICB since 2022, following his role as Chief Executive of NHS Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group. By the time he steps down, he will have worked in Lincolnshire for over nine years and spent nearly 40 years in the NHS, including more than 30 years as a Chief Officer.

Reflecting on his career, John said:

“It has been a complete privilege to serve the NHS and the people of Lincolnshire over the past nine years and to work with so many dedicated and talented colleagues across our health and care system. Together, we have tackled significant challenges and built a strong, effective integrated care system with many examples of good practice, innovation, investment, and transformation.

“It will be hard to say goodbye, and I am incredibly grateful for the generous support of my colleagues over the years. I am very proud of the NHS in Lincolnshire, which is well-placed to meet future challenges and continue improving services for local people.”

Tributes to John Turner’s Leadership

Dr Gerry McSorley, Chair of NHS Lincolnshire ICB, praised John’s leadership:

“The Lincolnshire health system has benefitted enormously from John’s leadership. His collaborative, compassionate, and calm approach has driven improvements in patient care and strengthened partnerships across the health and care system. Thanks to his leadership, we are in a much stronger position, built on trusted relationships. We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his outstanding service.”

Elaine Bayliss, Group Chair of Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, also acknowledged John’s impact:

“John has been an exceptional leader, dedicated to improving health outcomes for Lincolnshire residents. His ability to foster strong relationships with system partners has been a crucial part of his leadership. Thanks to his efforts, Lincolnshire’s healthcare system is in a strong operational position with an improving reputation among regulators. His contribution deserves great recognition.”

NHS Lincolnshire ICB will, in due course, begin the process of recruiting their new Chief Officer.
