Gosberton Medical Centre Rated ‘Good’ in All Areas by CQC
Gosberton Medical Centre is proud to announce a ‘Good’ rating in all areas following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This outcome reflects the centre’s strong focus on safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led patient care.
The latest report highlights a series of significant improvements across the practice since the previous inspection. These include upgrades to the facilities, better patient access, new care models, and more inclusive standards.
“We’re pleased with the inspection result,” said Dr Lucy Rushworth, speaking on behalf of Gosberton Medical Centre. “Being rated good across the board gives patients confidence that we’re performing well and meeting CQC expectations. It shows the dedication of our team and the strength of leadership within the practice. Most importantly, it reassures our patients that we remain committed to high-quality, patient-centred care.”
Key improvements include:
- Infrastructure Expansion: Three new purpose-built consulting rooms, a larger patient car park, and a 24/7 dispensary collection machine.
- Better Accessibility: Extended hours, a quiet waiting area for patients with sensory needs, and a reasonable adjustments policy to support individual care.
- Inclusive Health Services: A new lead for learning disability and autism, “Grab and Go” hospital passports, and carer support groups.
- Community-Focused Initiatives: A sensory garden, wellbeing hub activities, and events run in partnership with the Patient Participation Group.
- Digital Transformation: AI-assisted admin tools, upgraded IT systems, and digital consultations via Accurx.
- Holistic Care Approach: New support groups for chronic pain, respiratory health, cancer, and bereavement, plus wellness activities led by social prescribing.
The practice is now a GP training-accredited site and has achieved the Lincolnshire Carers Quality Award. It’s also working towards further recognition, including Pride in Practice and RCGP Green Practice accreditation.
Gosberton Medical Centre also credits NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) for its vital support on this journey of improvement.
“The ICB has helped us modernise our IT systems, improve clinical pathways, and gain recognition through initiatives like the Quality Early Warning Score (QEWS) process,” said Dr Rushworth. “One example is the FENO service we introduced for asthma diagnosis and monitoring – a test usually only available in diagnostic centres. With the ICB’s help, we’re tackling health inequalities and making vital services more accessible.”
Sarah-Jane Mills, from NHS Lincolnshire ICB, added: “We’re delighted with Gosberton Medical Centre’s strong CQC result. Their commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement sets a great example. We look forward to supporting their journey towards even greater excellence.”
With continued support from the ICB and the local community, Gosberton Medical Centre now sets its sights on achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating at its next inspection.
