With just one calendar month left to get a Covid-19 vaccination, the NHS in Lincolnshire is urging eligible people to book an appointment or visit an outreach vaccination session before 20th December.
To-date 155,000 Covid-19 vaccinations have been given across Lincolnshire, by GP practices, community pharmacies and the NHS’s central vaccination team. These vaccines provide protection for those people who need it most.
“We’re delighted with how this latest Covid-19 vaccination campaign has gone so far, but I want to emphasise the importance of getting vaccinated to those eligible people who haven’t done so yet,” comments Steve Clapton, Head of Immunisation and Screening, NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
“Getting a Covid-19 vaccination will give you important protection ahead of the busy Christmas period, help to prevent serious illness, death and minimise hospitalisations during what is usually a particularly busy time for the NHS. As we are starting to see temperatures drop and with more cold weather on the way, it’s also worth bearing in mind that, like flu, Covid-19 spreads more easily when we spend more time together indoors.”
With the end of the current Covid-19 vaccination campaign in sight, teams across the county continue to work hard to enable eligible people to get vaccinated. In addition to Covid-19 vaccinations, 263,000 flu vaccinations have been given.
“It’s important to remember that, even if you have previously had a Covid-19 and/or flu vaccination and/or been ill with either flu or Covid-19, your immunity will fade with time, so if you are eligible and you haven’t been vaccinated this time around, it’s important to come forwards,” explains Steve.
Eligible people will have received an invitation from the NHS, possibly from their GP practice or other local NHS services, to get their vaccinations and can book an appointment online using the NHS website, or by downloading the NHS app, or by calling 119 for free.

“You may be offered a flu vaccination in the same appointment as your Covid-19 vaccination. Alternatively, flu vaccinations can also be booked by searching online for a local pharmacy,” adds Steve.
