The first weekend of the new autumn Covid-19 vaccination campaign saw more than 15,000 Covid-19 vaccinations and more than 25,000 flu vaccinations given to Lincolnshire people.
This record breaking start for Lincolnshire, just two days after the release of the autumn Covid-19 vaccinations on Thursday 3rd October, was made possible by the vaccination teams at GP practices and community pharmacies across the county, who pulled out all the stops to get people vaccinated.
“I was confident the numbers of people coming forwards to have their vaccinations would be good, but I did not expect such astonishing numbers to be vaccinated so early into the new vaccination campaign, making for a record start for us” comments Steve Clapton, Lincolnshire Covid Programme Lead, NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
“We know from experience that Lincolnshire people always come forwards in their numbers, but this is a really stellar start and I would like to thank them for making their appointments so quickly and getting vaccinated.”
The involvement once again of GP practices and community pharmacies across Lincolnshire has been critical, as Steve explains.
“Nearly all GP practices across the county are supporting the autumn Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, alongside the flu vaccinations they are also giving, and we also have more community pharmacies involved this time around. I am hugely grateful for their magnificent efforts in providing Lincolnshire patients with the maximum level of protection this autumn.”
There is a list of participating community pharmacies, plus a map showing their locations. Community pharmacies offering Covid-19 vaccinations.
In addition to the Covid-19 vaccinations being delivered by GP practices and community pharmacies, as in previous vaccination campaigns there is also a series of community outreach clinics scheduled around the county, offering Covid-19 vaccinations locally. These can be booked using a dedicated phoneline and the details can be found here – Outreach/pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sessions in the community.
This current round of Covid-19 vaccinations will provide important protection from serious illness and hospitalisation for those most at risk as we go into winter months. Anyone aged 65 and over is eligible for Covid-19 and flu vaccinations, as are pregnant women, residents in care homes for older adults, and persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group.
“Eligible people will have begun to receive invitations from the NHS, including from GP practices and other local NHS services, to get their vaccinations and my advice is to book an appointment as soon as you can online using the NHS website, or by downloading the NHS app, or by calling 119 for free.
“You may be offered a flu vaccination in the same appointment as your Covid-19 vaccination. Alternatively, flu vaccinations can also be booked by searching online for a local pharmacy,” adds Steve.
