Official Opening of Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre

The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Alan Briggs, joined Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group Chief Executive, Professor Karen Dunderdale, to cut the ribbon at the official opening of the new facility.

Professor Dunderdale said: “We have been seeing patients at this new Community Diagnostic Centre since just before Christmas, and their feedback about the service has been excellent. Location and Facilities

The Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is based on Beevor Street, within the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park.

Thomas Blount, Director of Lincoln Science and Innovation Park, welcomed the new centre, stating: “We are delighted to have the CDC here at the Science Park. Alongside our existing pharmaceutical facilities, this centre creates further opportunities to bridge the gap between healthcare, research, and development, supporting the long-term wellbeing of our local communities.”

A Convenient Alternative for Patients

The CDC provides patients with a convenient location for diagnostic tests, offering an alternative to busy main hospital sites. This allows them to receive necessary care more quickly and efficiently.

The state-of-the-art services include MRI, CT, non-obstetric ultrasound, X-ray, and echocardiology. Patients can access these services through a referral from a hospital or GP. Additionally, the centre provides physiological testing such as blood tests, ECGs, spirometry, and FeNO testing.

The centre also features dedicated training facilities for future radiographers, directly linked to the Diagnostic Radiography programme at the University of Lincoln. This strengthens education and workforce development in the field.

Integrated Care Across Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire’s CDCs operate under the same teams and IT systems as the county’s hospitals, ensuring continuity in patient care and treatment.

With the opening of this new facility in Lincoln, Lincolnshire now has three Community Diagnostic Centres, including locations in Grantham on Gonerby Road and in Skegness on Old Wainfleet Road.
