Covid-19 vaccination Q&A with Professor Jonathan Van-Tam available to view

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England, returned to his home town of Boston last week as part of Lincolnshire’s team of vaccinators at the Princess Royal Sports Arena, Boston. After his shift, Professor Van-Tam joined the county’s vaccination leaders as they took part in a question and answer session with local community leaders about the covid-19 vaccination programme.

Well known for his appearances at the televised Government media briefings, Professor Van-Tam was born, raised and schooled in Boston, and returned to his home town on Friday 19th March 2021, to take part in a shift vaccinating people at one of the county’s two Large Vaccination Centres at the Princess Royal Sports Arena, Boston.

Having completed his stint vaccinating, Professor Van-Tam took part in an hour-long question and answer session with local community leaders, which was hosted by the NHS in Lincolnshire, and Boston Borough Council.

During the session, Professor Van-Tam answered questions about the delivery, safety and impact of the programme, as well as about his love for Boston United Football Club. One of the community leaders asking the questions was an old primary school friend, who complimented his former classmate on his, now famous, straightforward way of explaining information. Professor Van-Tam replied that he was very proud of being from Boston, adding “many of the lessons in how to put things over to people, I learnt on the streets of Boston”.
