Monday 5 July sees the NHS marking its 73rd birthday, following an unprecedented year of challenges not only for the NHS but for the country as a whole.
We have seen demands on all of our services increase significantly and at the same time we have implemented and delivered one of the most ambitious vaccination programmes ever.
The NHS could not have accomplished this without the skill and dedication of our people, along with the support of thousands of returners, volunteers, other keyworkers and, of course, the public who played their own critical part.
So we want to use our 73rd birthday as an opportunity to Say a Big Thank You to you. Without you and your support, we could never have achieved what we have over the past year.
Martin Fahy, Director of Nursing and Quality, NHS Lincolnshire CCG said:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our staff, patients, their families and carers for their continued support during what has been a very challenging time. We have had to adapt to new ways of working whilst continuing to manage the health needs of everyone and deliver the largest vaccination rollout in our history.
“This has only been made possible by the incredible part that has been played by all parts of our communities across Lincolnshire. So Happy Birthday NHS and here’s to 73 more years.”
There are a number of national initiatives taking place this year including:
Thank You Day
On Sunday 4 July, the Together coalition – a small non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing people together – will lead a national day of thanks and recognition to celebrate the incredible work of our NHS staff, as well as all key workers and others in our communities who have helped us through this challenging year.
The Big Tea
On Monday 5 July, join NHS Charities Together and take a tea break like no other. This is a chance for communities to come together for a national outpouring of love to thank NHS staff and each other for the huge role they have played over the last year.
Memorial service
On Saturday 3 July, the NHS will hold a special memorial service in the Blossom Memorial Garden in East London to remember NHS colleagues who have sadly died during the pandemic.
Light It Blue
On Saturday 3 July, landmark buildings in towns and cities across the country are helping the NHS celebrate as it turns 73 this year.
