ADHD Services for Adults in Lincolnshire

There has been an exponential growth, both nationally and locally, in the number of people presenting with symptoms of ADHD therefore requiring, and requesting, an assessment by an ADHD specialist.

Therefore, the NHS Lincolnshire ICB have recognised the importance of addressing the issue, along with other issues identified and have commenced a review of its provision of care for adults with ADHD in the County.

The aim is to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including clinical experts, service providers and people with lived experience to fully understand the needs and current provisions of services for adults with ADHD in Lincolnshire.

Currently, there is no statutory provision in Lincolnshire for adults with ADHD, only private sector provision and the demand is significantly outstripping the capacity.

The team have also identified that the pathway for young people (16–17 year olds) with ADHD transitioning from community paediatrics to adult services needs to be more robust.

The outcomes of this work are to:

  • Gain a detailed picture of the need in relation to ADHD services for adults in Lincolnshire.
  • Create a view of best practice evidence and gap analysis in relation to current provision.
  • Have an agreement upon national and local recommendations.
  • To develop a strategy and clear commissioning intentions in response to the issues identified.
  • Have a blueprint for future service provision and clear care pathway for adults and young people transitioning from children’s to adults services.

The review will take place over several months and is expected to be completed by March 2024. For further information please contact richard.eccles@nhs.net or licb.mhldateam@nhs.net.
