Sharon Swain, Haematology Cancer Care Coordinator, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Gemma Barnes, Cancer Project Manager, Lincolnshire ICB Living with Cancer Team, joined over 200 volunteers from the Boston borough recently for a 5K Your Way Move Against Cancer group event at Boston Stump.
Sharon and Gemma were representing the Boston 5K Your Way Move Against Cancer team, at the request of the Mayor of Boston, Cllr Anne Dorrian. The Mayor’s invitation was extended to all volunteers in the borough to celebrate and recognise their contribution to the local community; a real honour for the Boston 5KYW group and all of the other volunteers.
5KYW is free to attend and supports people affected by cancer to walk, jog or run 5K on the last Saturday of every month at Witham Way Country Park, Boston. The event is coordinated by health and care professionals and people with lived cancer experience. The event will celebrate it’s 1st birthday on 24th June.
