Proposals to close a small GP surgery in Lincoln have been announced

Springcliffe Surgery based on St Catherines in Lincoln offers a limited range of services to patients as a branch site of the neighbouring Brant Road Surgery.

In a letter sent to patients, the GP partners said one of the reasons they are proposing to close the branch site was a decreasing number of patients using it with most patients preferring to access the main site on Brant Road due to the wider range of services and better facilities available.

Having analysed use of the branch site, the partners believe the closure will only impact a couple of patients per week who would need to access services from the main site on Brant Road instead. There are currently over 10,000 patients registered.

The partners hope that by closing the branch site they will be able to focus on improving services at the main site on Brant Road.

The closure would see all services and staff currently operating from the branch site relocate to the main site on Brant Road.

Patients are being encouraged to share their feedback on the proposals by completing a survey or by attending one of three planned patient engagement events taking place on the following dates:

  • Thursday 14 December, 6pm-8pm (drop in anytime) at Brant Road Surgery
  • Friday 12 January, 2pm-4pm (drop in anytime) at Springcliffe Surgery
  • Wednesday 14 February, 10am-12 noon (drop in anytime) at Springcliffe Surgery

Feedback should be given by no later than Friday 22 February 2024 so that the partners can consider the proposed closure further.  The final decision regarding the proposal will be made by the Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board later next year.
